THE STORY OF VIRGINIA MUSEUM

WA wants to share the great history of Virginia with our customers and especially our friends visiting in Staunton. It is exciting to combine over 10,000 years of Virginia history with the beautiful outdoors of Virginia.

The Story of Virginia museum presents a visual journey featuring objects and text illustrating the history of Virginia from the Ice Age through Colonial times where Virginia’s vastness was simply described by Native Americans as; “the land beyond the mountains”, through the 18th, 19th and 20th century wars, the integrations movement during the 1960’s, the hippy movement in the late 1960’ and the contemporary frontier culture of today!

More than 200 Virginia artifact provides the visitor an insight into personal survival and challenges of real people that developed the great Commonwealth of Virginia.
